Exporting
horses from the USA to another country requires an isolation/quarantine period at a USDA approved facility. Your horse, by law, will then be tested for different diseases in order to meet all export requirements. During this time, Equine Consultants will complete the required paper work and blood work. Once completed, all horses must be approved to fly by the USDA veterinarian.

Equine Consultants represent several  USAD Approved Isolation facilities in Miami, FL that consists of:

* (12 x 12) stalls bedded with pine shavings over rubber matted floors

* (60 x 120) paddocks with open stalls for broodmare's or young  horses.

* horse walkers

* multiple grass turn out paddock

* heated underwater Aqua-tread (additional charges)

* timers provide 16 hours of lighting each day

* horses are blanketed as needed during cooler months at NO extra charge

** the quarantine facility has a separate staff dedicated to caring for each horses "individual needs" **

Full service Export includes:

  • 30 days quarantine / daily care
  • Testing and preparation of all health certificates and documents
  • Trimming by farrier (if needed)
  • Transport to airport of departure
  • USDA charges, export handling and air freight costs at departure airport until airport of arrival

Additional Export Services Available include:

  • Health or accident insurance of horse
  • Importation costs at the airport of arrival, such as but not limited to terminal charges and custom clearance costs
  • Hauling to final destination from arrival airport.
  • Hauling to USDA Approved Facility from original purchase destination in USA
  • Additional vet, farrier or other requests will be billed as extra charges

Owners requirement upon arrival of horse to Our Referred USDA Facility:

  • Signed Export Agreement. (Contact us for Export Agreement)
  • Payment is due in full upon arrival: if payment is not made in a timely manner before the departure date your horse is scheduled to leave on, the horse will be pulled from the flight. Accumulative board of $20/day will be charged from arrival date, $250 to reissue health certificates, and if an alternate horse can not be substituted you are required to pay for container space on the original flight in addition to the actual flight your horse departs on.
  • Current Negative Coggins test (within 12 months)
  • Copy of breed association papers
  • Copy of invoice/bill of sale for customs clearance at point of destination
  • EVA Vaccination documentation (if vaccinated for EVA) for all horses

IMPORTANT NEWS/NEW USDA regulations:

! As of February 1, 2007 any stallion coming to our quarantine facility needs to have a recent (within 30 days) negative EVA test or if vaccinated, an official record of vaccination; including pre vaccination negative test for EVA.

Veterinary care during Quarantine
Should your horse require any other veterinary treatment, you will be notified and a veterinarian of your choice will be informed. Please advise us if you wish to have your horse de wormed, vaccinated or treated for any condition while in quarantine. Charges for any treatment must be paid in full before departure. For your convenience all major credit cards accepted for these additional charges.
